What Makes Mongolian Racehorses Special?

Mongolian horses are known for their incredible endurance, resilience, and speed. Though smaller than many other breeds, they are perfectly adapted to Mongolia’s vast стДпpe landscapes. Some modern racehorses may also have mixed breeding.

Age Categories

Unlike many countries, Mongolian horse racing is organized by the horse’s age:

  • ShĂŒdlen – 3-year-olds
  • Khiyazalan – 4-year-olds
  • Soyolon – 5-year-olds

Race Distance

Races are long-distance and depend on age, ranging from 10 km to 30 km across open grasslands—no tracks, just pure nature.

Training & Care

Racehorses are trained from a young age with great care. Trainers focus on natural conditioning, proper nutrition, and balanced rest to ensure peak performance.

🌿 Traditions & Ethics

Horse trainers (known as uyaach) take great pride in preparing their horses in harmony with nature.
